Appointments

All consultations are by appointment.  Due to the time constraint on the appointment and for patient safety, please respect one patient and one problem per appointment policy. If you feel that you may need more time to discuss all your issues with either the doctor or nurse, please ask for an extended appointment. When booking an appointment the receptionist will ask a brief description the reason for your appointment, this is to direct you to ensure you see the right clinician and ensure appointment times are adequate as some appointments need longer time e.g. smears and spirometry. All appointments can be booked up to 2-3 weeks in advance.

Extended Hours

General practice is here for you for longer, as routine appointments become available on evenings and weekends. The surgery works with a number of local practices to provide greater access to pre bookable hub appointments on the day. Appointments will be available Monday to Friday and on Saturday and Sunday AM. Please be advised that availability is limited and will be by appointment and urgent on the day only. If no appointment is available you may be directed to alternative services such as NHS111. These appointments will not be available to book on line – therefore please speak to a member of our reception staff for further advice and appointment availability.

Home Visits

Home visits are for housebound patients who are too ill to come to the surgery, please make your request before 10.00 am (this helps us to organise our day). Brief medical details may be requested by the reception staff. The duty doctor may also wish to speak to you. Emergency requests can be made at any time. For patients who have carers or who are looked after by family or friends, it is helpful if they are present at the time of the visit.

Telephone Advice

Sometimes it may be appropriate for patients to have a telephone consultation with the appropriate healthcare professional, either a nurse or a doctor. If you would like to speak to a clinician but do not feel that an appointment is necessary please ring between 9am and 11am, and request a telephone call. The receptionist will ask for brief details of your request. Please ensure your phone is switched on so you can receive the callback. The doctor/nurse may request you to make an appointment after discussing your problem on the telephone.
